Pay Federal Taxes (Goes to IRS Website)

 

Steps to make a payment:

  1. Click on Make a Payment

  2. Select Reason for Payment. The most common reasons are Tax Return or Notice, Estimated Tax, and Amended Return

  3. Select Apply Payment To. This will likely be 1040, 1040ES, or 1040X, depending on your Reason for Payment

  4. Select Tax Period for Payment. This is the tax year you would like your payment applied.

  5. On the next page you will be required to verify your identity. This will require information from your tax return. Save your confirmation and include in next year’s tax documentation.

 
 
 

Pay Minnesota State Taxes (Goes to MN Revenue Wesbite)

 

Steps to make a payment:

  1. Click on No, I am not using a Letter ID if making an estimated payment, amendment, or annual tax payment.

  2. Select Type of Taxpayer. Select Individual if you are filing for yourself (and spouse).

  3. Select Type of Tax. This will likely be Individual Income Tax - used for annual, estimated, or amended tax return payments.

  4. Enter Social Security Number and Last Name. Also add Spouse’s information if applicable.

  5. On the next page you will select the Type of Payment. This will likely be Amended, Estimate, Extension, or Return depending on why you are making your payment.

  6. Select the Filing Period of Payment. This is the tax year you would like your payment applied and is in the format of 31-Dec-2020.

  7. Once you click next you will be prompted to enter your payment amount and bank account details. Save your confirmation and include in next year’s tax documentation.
